Privacy Policy

Overview

Pebu is a voice-first journaling app for iOS. Privacy is not a feature - it is the foundation. This policy explains what data Pebu uses, where it lives, and what we will never do with it.

Your Voice & Journal Entries

Your voice recordings stay on your device. They are never uploaded to our servers. If you subscribe to Pebu Pro, you can optionally back up your recordings to your own iCloud account — a backup you control and can turn off at any time.

Your transcriptions and journal entries are stored securely in our cloud database so your journal is safe and available to you. Entries are encrypted in transit, linked only to your account, and visible only to you. Speech-to-text transcription uses Apple's speech recognition framework, which prefers on-device processing and may use Apple's servers when a local model is unavailable.

Insights & AI Features

For Pebu Pro subscribers, entry text is processed by our AI providers (Anthropic and OpenAI) to generate insights, mood detection, the Weekly Life Tape, and Ask Pebu answers. Under our agreements with these providers, your entries are never used to train their models. Your audio is never sent to any AI provider. Entries from free accounts are not sent for AI analysis.

Your Account

Pebu requires a sign-in so your journal can be kept private to you and restored if you change devices. Authentication is handled by our sign-in provider (Clerk). We store your account identifier and basic profile information; deleting your account removes them along with all of your journal data.

Subscription & Payments

Pebu Pro is offered as an in-app subscription through Apple's App Store. All payment processing is handled by Apple — we do not receive, store, or process any payment card details. Subscription receipts are validated by RevenueCat on our behalf so your Pro access works reliably across sessions. For billing questions, refer to your Apple ID account settings.

Analytics & Crash Reporting

Pebu may collect anonymous, aggregated crash reports through Apple's standard crash reporting (if you have opted in to share analytics with app developers in your iOS settings). This data contains no journal content, no voice data, and no personally identifiable information.

We do not use advertising networks, behavioral tracking SDKs, or any third-party analytics that profiles you across apps.

iCloud Backup

Pebu Pro includes an optional backup of your voice recordings to your own iCloud account. You can turn this off at any time in Settings, and disabling it removes the backups Pebu created. Your device's standard iCloud Backup (controlled in iOS Settings) may additionally include app data and is governed by Apple's iCloud privacy policy.

Data Deletion

You can delete your account and all of your journal data at any time using “Delete Everything” in the app's Settings. This immediately removes your entries, insights, and profile from our servers, along with recordings on your device and any iCloud backups Pebu created. Note that deleting the app alone does not delete the data stored in your account. If you have any questions, contact us at support@lunipod.com.

Children's Privacy

Pebu is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect any personal information from children. If you believe a child has created an account, contact us and we will delete it.

Changes to This Policy

If we update this policy, the revised version will be posted here with an updated date. We will never introduce data selling, advertising, or AI training on your journal without clear, upfront notice.
